Naturally occurring acid peels are a method of exfoliation for the skin, revitalising and resurfacing the top layer of the skin. They involve applying the surface of the skin with a safe, chemical solution that removes the damaged outer layers of skin, revealing a younger, clearer, fresher, more radiant complexion.
Used to treat:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Skin impurities, enlarged pores
- Skin discolouration (reduce or eliminate age spots, freckles, and hyper-pigmentation, improves tone and hyperpigmented areas)
- Tired looking skin, with poor circulation
- Sun-damaged skin
- Skin rejuvenation and regeneration (improves skin texture and stimulate the production of collagen for firmer, more youthful skin)
- Acne and Acne Scars
- Mild scarring
To achieve maximum results, our skin experts will recommend a course of skin peels depending on your skin tone and condition.
The skin is cleansed with a rich soothing cream cleanser to clear makeup, grime and surface oils. The chemical solution is carefully applied to the skin, during which time mild stinging and tingling will occur. After a few minutes the solution is neutralised and removed, revealing the smoother and more refined new layer of skin.
40% strength- Your skin may be a little red, feel slightly dry and tight. The skin will look ‘normal’ straight away. No downtime.
70% Strength- The skin will look red and feel warm and tighter than normal. There is likely to be mild flaking in areas in/around the nose which will resolve in 2 days.
It is common for most patients to experience transient hyperpigmentation. This will settle during the course of treatments and with the use of appropriate treatment creams and sun protection. Peel patients are advised to avoid sun exposure and to use a sun protection cream (minimum SPF 30) for several weeks following treatment. Failure to do so may result in unintended colour changes in the skin.
